WOW – It’s the 25th Annual Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade – Thursday July 4th

It’s hard to believe that another year has flown by and that this year is the 25th annual Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade.  My family and I have a tradition we get up early on the 4th of July and find a perfect spot up front on the parade route to set up our little shade structure, then we go to get some breakfast nearby.   We always have a great time and besides watching a great parade we get to meet other families that are as excited as we are to see the pageantry float by.

The entire Las Vegas valley is invited to celebrate Independence Day at the 25th Annual Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade, Southern Nevada’s largest and most colorful Fourth of July parade. The parade starts at 8:30 a.m. and is expected to be over at 11a.m. The parade begins at the corner of Hillpointe Rd and Hills Center Dr in The Trails village of Summerlin. Participants travel south toward Village Center Circle, then west on Trailwood Drive. The parade ends near the corner of Trailwood Drive and Spring Gate Lane.

This year for the silver anniversary of the parade there will be over 70 entries including a float themed for the Las Vegas Golden Knights sponsored by City National Bank that started in the parade last year.  Plus all the traditional floats and giant balloons, bands, military heroes, musical groups and children themed figures of storybook and cartoon characters.

Over 40,000 people are expected to watch the festivities.  There are more than 2,500 people participating and over 500 volunteers from schools and other organizations.  The on lookers come from all parts of the Las Vegas area to watch this spectacular parade.  Don’t forget to bring water and wear sunscreen.

The feeling you get watching everyone taking great pride in our city is pure joy and how proud we all are to be in this incredible country. There is nothing quite like it. For parade details, just go to:

I want to wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July. And please be careful if handling fireworks. The air is extra dry and you can easily start a fire, or get hurt. Maybe you prefer to let the professionals handle it and watch the fireworks at Red Rock Casino or at Green Valley Ranch Hotel?
